Gabrieli Consort & Players saw in the New Year with a fine performance at Shakespeare's Globe on New Year's day. Music-News.com were on hand to witness the Winter Wassail in the resplendent theatre on the Thames edge.

Whilst enjoying the warmth of a mulled wine in these authentic surroundings the singers were in full voice regaling the gathered throng with songs and poetry from times gone by in order to shoo away the darkness. The most memorable of which was a fine rendition of the '12 Days of Christmas' highlighting the impracticality of the presents.
